So a little bit more

First, I'm not sure why pictures aren't posting so I'll have to try to figure that out this weekend! I'm not the most technical person.

As we were leaving the apartment this morning to walk to Alex's car, all of a sudden my sure-footed husband when DOWN! Just slipped right on the ice and was down in the ice/snow/sand mixture. Oh boy, I figured he injured something! But no, just covered with sand all over his good pants and coat. But it all brushed off. Talk about a start to the day! Then walking up the courthouse steps I tripped! The steps aren't even height and I guess I just wasn't paying attention. But at least I didn't go down, just looked a little less than graceful.

We went out for dinner to the Snowflake – had to do SOMETHING! Very nice dinner – Veggie salads to start, Brian had grilled pork with potatoes and I had grilled chicken breast with potatoes. Then he had ice cream for dessert – and proceeded to do his allergic sneezing for the very first time this trip! I had tiramisu for dessert – we both were stuffed then! Stopped at the liquor store on the way home and I got a bottle of wine – figure I can drink a little now! Then we checked and we again had a phone line so we knew we were back in contact!

First call was to JJ – my dad got him on the line and I said "Hi JJ, guess what?" And he said "we got him?" I said "we got him" – and he didn't say much more but then said "goodbye" and hung up! So I figured they'd call back. When my mom got to him minutes later she said "did you hang up?" and he said "yeah, she didn't have anything else to say!" LOL

So we're sitting here reading emails, posting and reading comments. We figure if you never commented before you better now! LOL

We don't have Nathan yet and might not until the 10-day appeal period is up but we'll ask next week. Regardless, for now we are just praising and thanking our amazing God who got us to this point!

And I just added time onto our calling card so you can keep calling us! (but mom, it did say $8.95 left b4 I added time)

Dear Debbie and Brian,

Congratulations! We have been trying to call, and couldn't get through, and now we know why. We have been praying the past few days, and all day today for your hearing. We will definitely have to get together with you again while you are still here in town. Call us when you are ready to go to Baikal, or for anything else!

Ask Alex if he can ask the director of the BH to give Nathan to you for the weekend (like the H's were going to do). Since it is such a hike to get him, and now that everything is DONE, they might go for it. I mean, that would be in the best interest of Nathan!

Hmmm, maybe I was just a little bit excited and didn't hear correctly! That's OK, we will use it! Next week I might have some free time in Cooney - LOL Back to sending emails to hundreds of my friends who have been following this for so long...it is still like a dream... (come true!!!)

We are so happy that you finally have your son, Nathan! Our family has been following your story through friends, Pastor Carter and Claudine. What a roller coaster ride! Thanks to God that the judge has finally passed your adoption. May your trip back home be uneventful and safe. We hope everything goes well with your family as you adjust to being a family of four, and as your boys experience life with a sibling! God's blessings,
Love,

Congratuations!!!! JJ is now a BIG BROTHER! Kele and I quick checked the computer before school, and as soon as we read the title we knew!! I only wished we still lived in the cul-de sac so we could meet Nathan! (Imagine, three boys making a tree fort!!) Kele wanted to know if Nathan spoke Russian (yes) and english (not much?? But kids pick up that pretty quick!). I am sooo Happy for all of you. JJ for finallly getting to be the big brother, Brian...we prayed extra special for you not to be nervous, I can only imagine how happy you all are! I am picturing Nathan's reaction when he gets the news...we can't wait to see pictures. Wow, the long wait is now over. I admire your and Brian's strength and perserverance over the years. We will keep up with your adventures :)

I am so excited, I nearly screamed when I read the post this morning before my first class. I did cry though and I got a few weird looks from people, but who cares you have your son and I have a cousin/godson. I am just curious as to how things are going to go from now on. I know that you have the 10 day time in Russia, but what is all that about? I also know that you need to go to Moscow, but again I have a vary vague reason for why? The reason I want to know is that I want to plan on coming to see him and you two as well. So when you know the dates I am sure that we all will. Ok that is all I have. As so many have said Praise the Lord for granting our prayer and for bringing Nathan into our extended family and your home. Lots of love, Sarah

Congratulations! I heard JJ was hiding at school because he didn't want all the attention. He's going to love having a brother though. I heard it first from Sheryl. At long last! -Misty

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I am choking on tears as I read your blog out loud to Joe. It has transported us right back into the Russian courtroom we were in 3 years ago. But we had it way easier than what you went through - in court and out. This has truly been a test of your faith and strength and you have Prevailed! Hallellujah! We are so, so, so very happy for you guys. Your lives will never be the same. We will have to get together when you are home and meet little Nathan Eugenie. Have a safe trip home.

ps: Tell Nathan to stay clear of bedpans.

Debbie & Brian,
We are so happy for you! I have been praying for you all week. And I even had trouble sleeping Thursday night thinking about your court appearance!

Of course I had tears in my eyes reading your posts. But I didn't actually cry until I read the story about JJ on the phone! How funny!

We can't wait for the news that you are on the way home! Good luck!
