Less Wordy Wednesday

It snowed last night! One of the benefits of not knowing the weather reports is that when you look outside in the morning and it's all white and bright again it just makes you smile!

We're on a roll with movie (VCR) watching – last night we watched "The Fugitive" with no shut-downs. Even tho you know the ending that is one good movie to see again – I love some of the lines!

Genya and I woke up at 7:15 this morning – I actually woke up slightly before him today! Our normal routine – into the living room, find the cartoons (one channel with them), he eats yogurt and banana, I make my coffee and check emails. Keep those comments & emails coming --- Sometimes we feel that we are "forgotten" over here during the length of our stay – we know life goes on for everyone else! LOL (ok, I wrote this in the morning and now today we've had a whole bunch of unexpected phone calls! We don't feel as forgotten anymore!)

Morning was just a regular day – a few loads of laundry, a phone call from home, cartoons, playing, vacuuming… We went "out" for lunch today for the Business Lunch at the "Blue Door" – the lady there is so nice and helpful even tho she doesn't speak much English! Few words here and there – today she was asking about Genya and later came over and told me that he looks like me (at least I think that's what she said!) Then we were going to take a little walk but went up to the 3-floor mall and walked around there for awhile. Genya had to look at everything! The first few stores he touched the glass for everything and would say "mama?" "genya?" (like buy it for me??) We just kept saying "no"… All we got at the mall was a packet of Kleenex!

Then we headed out a different door and were by the people's market and found a side alley where they were selling fruits and vegetables! Bought a box of kiwi for 80r (got 11 of them) so more reasonable than the other day. Genya and we will enjoy those! Then a walk to the Deli by the stadium to pick up stuffed cabbage rolls & salad for dinner. I have mentioned I'm running out of ideas, right? Saw those good looking mock chicken legs again so might have to get those soon!

Genya had some issues following directions near the end of his walk so we think he was tired – he got a "rest" today. It was to be for 45-minutes. I had him lay on our bed and told him (and somewhat showed him) that when the hand on the clock was on the "4" he could get up. Well, about 15-minutes after he laid down he called me into the room – somehow the hands on the clock were changed to read 11:00! Now who still thinks he doesn't understand what we tell him!! After this rest he was in a better mood – he hadn't slept but just needed calm time… Then the afternoon cartoons were on so we watched them and then he played with Brian for awhile.

Dinner tonight went very well – I think Genya was happy to have familiar food again! He gobbled up a whole cabbage roll, rice, kiwi and cooked carrots and drank milk! Then he had a nice bath and we watched Wall-E tonight. He even laughed at part of it and smiled at a bunch too – normally he just stares and watches so this was fun to see. Then it was time for him to get to bed and Brian and I have settled in for our VCR viewing tonight.

Gosh, this is a short blog but pretty much a repeat of many other days! I mentioned to Jim S. who called tonight I am SO GLAD I kept this blog with so many details – I am already forgetting much of what happened the past weeks!

Hey! Did those instructions help? If not, tell me and I'll try another way.

Oh my goodness! So he changed the hands on the clock!?! Too funny!

Love hearing about his response to Wall-E.

I like the idea of the chain for the countdown until going home. Do you think JJ would like to have one too in WI? Or do you think he would feel it is too "babyish" for him? I look forward to your daily blog. What a treasure it is for Nathan to have it when he grows up.

I love the clock story! And the mall story, too, how cute!
You two are doing a great job. Hang in there!
