Hi - when JJ got up this A.M. I said, Happy sunny Monday! He said, No, only Sundays are sunny! (???) I think he was not quite awake...we had a good Sunday - silver dollar pancakes (the new favorite) LATE church - a snack - visit with Grandma N, shopping at Gamestop (one for JJ, one for a "travel" gift for J&E) home to play the new Kirby game, piano practice (part of the deal!) homework (no grumbling) more game playing - GPa was home from swap meet by then, dinner, and then reading for almost an hour!
Our paper chain is almost finished, however it is a bigger project since ours represents one link for every day until CHRISTMAS !!! Since JJ "LOVES" Christmas! It has turned into a gift for Nathan also...will look cute to decorate the house for your return! (Just so Candy doesn't attack it!) Questions for you: where do all the cucumbers come from? Do they raise them in huge greenhouses like we saw in Canada??? Or imported??? Also - is cell phone usage common in Russia?
Nice sunny day here, probably in 20's - SPRING is in the air, maybe...
Love you lots, mom

Debbie,

Here is another fun thing to play with...oobleck. It acts as both a solid (if you work it a lot) and a liquid (if you let it ooze). I don't know if you can find cornstarch in the store but if you can, Genya will love it. Caution: it is very messy but a lot of fun!

You'll need 1 cup water and 1.5 - 2cups cornstarch

Start with the water in a bowl and begin adding the corn starch to it. You can use a spoon at first, but you'll quickly moving on to using your hand to stir it up.

When you're getting close to adding 1.5 cups of the corn starch, start adding it in more slowly and mixing it in with your hand. The goal is to get a consistency where the Oobleck reaches a state that is the liquid and yet solid.

Sometimes you will need more cornstarch. If so, keep adding more than the initial 1.5 cups. If you add too much, just add some water back into it. This can also be used from day to day...just rehydrate it.

Have fun!
Jane
