Getting prepared

I have spent the morning writing up my excel sheet with English-Russian words and "baby signs" for some of them. I am a visual learner so the more I type and read these words together hopefully the better I'll be able to remember to use the right words in the right context and quickly when necessary! I'll have to see if I can attach an excel document into blogger, otherwise I'll just have to email if anyone is interested. I'm SURE that the words aren't always entirely correct and my pronunciation isn't right but I'm hoping if we're consistent it will work out ok. The Russians who keep asking me things seem to understand when I say "ya ne pameegiyo" (I don't understand)!

Yesterday you remember we got more coloring books and art supplies for when we're all together in the apartment. We also bought the Russian Wall-E DVD and it played just fine so we'll probably pickup a few more (they're under $6) but we'll wait to find out some of his favorite cartoons before purchasing too many. We want to get just a few more of the Disney-type movies (like CARS) mainly as souvenirs I guess! I have some books we brought along so I can read to him (when he has the interest that is!) but I need some help with something… I am blanking out on some songs I can sing with him – I have the "Jesus Loves Me" and some other bedtime ones in mind but give me some others that would be short, fun and maybe actions involved. "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" I remember and I found some others in my "baby sign" book but I know there are those of you out there who can give me other suggestions! You can either post a comment or if it's more detailed just email me! (Any shorter stories suitable for a child that could be scanned and emailed to me would also be appreciated – I'm sure he's going to be tired of my limited book selection quickly!?) (dln0623@hotmail.com). Thanking you in advance! We can't print here in the apartment but I love to save attachments and read and re-read them often. Smaller resolution is best to save our dial-up time J

The wheels on the bus is a great action song, as is the ants go marching one by one.. Then there's old mcdonald. If you could find pictures of the animals it would be fun, because whether or not he understood the words, a few times through he'd be able to participate regardless and make the sound of the animal.

Hope that helps. Love the updates!!!

We've started Head, Shoulders, knees... it's fun and he's learning body parts.

SKip likes a variation of Row, Row, Row your boat he learned in Preschool:

Row, Row, Row your boat
gently downt he stream
When you see a crocodile
Don't forget to Scream
[[[Scream}}}}

You may want to pick up some books like the Three pigs, Goldilocks, Red Riding hood. They'll be in Russian, but you can easily get teh words in English online...

I downloaded some kid songs (Raffe etc.) onto my laptop when I was there...funny tho - Anya liked Hokey Pokey so much better than 'the horn on the bus goes beep beep beep, and the kids on the bud go up and down'. I think she just liked copying me saying Hokey Pokey!
