…carry your translation book with you – no matter what your husband says! We were going to go for a walk and grab a quick snack somewhere. We weren't really hungry after the good lunch but I knew I'd need to eat later if we didn't get something. So we decided to go to the "Sunshine Café" – not sure if this is the name of it or not but it's what we call it. Where they speak English, at least a little, and the friendly lady usually is there. On the way we found a house-goods store and found a half-litre measuring device for me. Yeah! Then we got to the café – no one there who speaks English and me without my translation book! It turned out ok – Brian pointed to the pizza and I pointed to something on the counter. He also got a local juice-type drink and I got green tea. The cost? 66 rubles… we think somehow they keep undercharging us there but hey, they don't speak English for us to question it!?! So as I'm getting sugar in my tea the night manager-type guy hands me his cell phone and says "for you" – For me? Who could be calling me on a cell phone of some guy I don't know in Russia?? Well it turned out to be the lady who's usually there – maybe the overall manager? He said her name but I didn't catch it so we really have to ask her what it is! The guy must have called her to report we were there! She said she was happy we were there and invited us to listen to Russian Folk music tomorrow (Saturday) night at the café. I explained we had to go see our son in the afternoon but we would stop in when we got back into IRK. She said this time they're "professional" and really wants us to come – so I again said we would AFTER we got back to town. So not sure if we'll catch the show or not but we WILL stop in!
Then a quick trip into the supermarket for Pepsi Light turned into a three-bagger… stocked up on some items for the apartment like laundry detergent & TP. It is such a warm evening I figured we could carry it now instead of when it's cold again next week!
So we're just hanging around right now – might not even watch DVDs tonight…. We're tired after our fulfilling day!

Hi Deb and Brian, I was going to call, but it sounds like you might turn in early. It would be 10:30 PM your time. Was that a good move on my part or could I have called? So I thought I would drop you a quick note. I have been reading about Lake Baikal, I really don't know why. I guess I just like lakes, especially the Great Lakes, so Lake Baikel really interests me. I even watched a British TV show on the internet about them discovering that it is even deeper than they thought a couple of years ago. Well . . . enough about me.
Say, Deb I'm sure that everyone reading these blogs would agree with me. . . when I look at you in the pictures here on your blog, I can't help but notice just how much you are glowing. And we all know why. We see it in the words that you type out for us, but it's great to see it in the pictures too.

PS. Brian, you look a little bright as well, but . . . we are guys . . . and we really don't talk to each other about things like "glowing" and junk like that. We just don't do that. We're guys.
Translation book... I'll make a mental note of that. Of course we'll be fluent by the time we actually travel again.. ha! Actually we did start a curriculum about 5 weeks ago... so confusing! I even taught our oldest a few words.
Hi Deb! I saw your comment and are looking forward to you guys joining us for the playgroups. I'm sure your Mom has told you how much fun we have there. Can't wait for you to get home and can start joining us! (I love the pictures you post, keep them coming)
Take care,
Dawn
