Various pictures from our stay (so far!)

Street picture - typical -- lots of individual kiosk type stores one after another

Village scene - on way to Cheremkhovo

One of the toilets in the orphanage (for our use) - the other one we used was more conventional. This was very clean tho!

Village by Lake Baikal

Lake Baikal

Lake Baikal - both these pictures are more impressive if you can view bigger... maybe you can click on to see more details?

Small ice area near our apartment

Carleen & fellow bible class members - please have a cup of Berres Brothers decaf - any kind! - for me. I'm drinking Maxwell House INSTANT!

Valentine's Day breakfast - "All-American" Russian style. Bacon, eggs over-easy, toast, juice, fruit salad. Yum!!
And hot chocolate for Brian - we can't find it in the stores here so it's our last packet. I'm sure it's here somewhere, just can't find!

The pickles we like - very very tiny

Night shot of a building downtown Irkutsk

Off the walking street - we shortcut through here sometimes. There is always a lady there wanting us to go upstairs for something but we're not sure what! So we just smile and shake head no.

Big ice sculpture park across from Angara hotel

The big ice slide in the big park

Brian by the WWII memorial - I love the sky in the background!

I took this for my Avon rep, Shirley. Avon advertises on TV also!

Not sure what this is but looks like an old fire-house to us

Another village shot - not sure where tho

Riding with Alex -- note how close the trolley is and the cars too!

The railway station in Irkutsk - the Trans-Siberian Railroad stops here

Shot of Irkutsk

Village on the way to Cheremkhovo

I "think" this might be the infamous "brat-house" - or else it looks like it. This was just a random shot Brian had taken one of the first days!

I find it very hard to upload pictures to blogger in any sort of rhyme or reason and then I always wind up erasing one so this took me like an HOUR to do -- so appreciate it! LOL

I know how long it takes to upload so I appreciate!

This is the first trip I've noticed the Avon signs and books everywhere. Saw a billboard the other day!

Love seeing the pictures! Especially the ones on the way to Cherem.
Although I had to laugh at your note about the one driving with Alex and the proximity of the trolley and other cars, I will never forget my first ride in the car, I kept asking my husband "where are the lanes"? and "do they have to go so fast"? Funny thing though in our 10 days there we never saw one accident...

WONDERFUL PICTURES - I want to visit there! Like seeing the ice sculptures, various types of buildings (WWII mem is large bldg in the background?) street scenes (helps me picture what your days are like!) and the frozen lake is beautiful (yes, "open link" enlarges the pic) - need more shots of foods!!! LOL
JJ is waiting to call until he can speak with Nathan. Do you know Russian word for "brother?"
Happy Valentine's Day! We have a new covering of beautiful white stuff, but at least it is CLEAN! LOL JJ was excited to wake up to see the snow cover- funny, I am enjoying a cup of Berres Decaf right now! Love ya,mom

Well, it's 8:00 AM Sat. morning here in Hustisford. Karen & I are raising a coffee to you two. Not decaf though, the hard stuff. Pics are great. I showed Pete the toilet. He didn't know what he was looking at. No magazines?? Pictures of even the unmentionables, as well as every nook-&-cranny, together with your accounts, really put us there. Wish we could "beam" over for a day to spend some time with you. Don't you just wonder what that woman has upstairs? But you have to leave some mysteries in life be. Take care!
